Back in 2021 I wrote a post about my long time experience with owning a 2008 Acura MDX (located here) https://bobnuttmann.com/2021/07/23/acura-mdx-2008-long-term-review/ ). A while after writing this glowing article for an older car, I sold it to my oldest daughter. Now three years later I talked her into buying a new Tesla Model Y and she sold my 2008 Acura back to me. It now has 137,000 miles and still runs very well.

This car is very well equipped but does not have some of the latest control systems like “Car Play” or “Android Auto”. What it also does not have is some of the things that annoy me with my two 2024 vehicles. Like front wheels that twitch when you near the lane lines in the road, bluetooth connections to cell phones that often get confused (At least in my Tesla and 2024 Acura), internet connection dependent navigation, internet connection dependent streaming music. Wireless voice and messaging that distract you when driving.
The 2008 has a very good sound system. It is very easy to use and includes AM, FM, Sat, & CDs. And if you want to connect to my iPhone it is pretty easy to do with a wire. I do not find wire connections in most cases to be a disadvantage. Bluetooth many times does not work well and gets confused. Like when there are two people in the car both with bluetooth phones that can connect to the car.

I just drove this car to the store. It starts right up. With a key built into the key fob. The AC comes on strong and cools the car quick. This is a very easy car to drive. And I recommend it highly if you are looking for a solid SUV at a low price a 2008 Acura is hard to beat. I would say you can find a very good one for $5,000. Mine even has a trailer hitch. However I am not planning to sell it, so I am not trying to promote my car. If you cannot find a 2008 I would recommend any Acura MDX year up to 2022 as an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). 2022 and later is a bigger car and in my opinion is more like a LUV (Luxury Utility Vehicle). The later cars are still good, but they are too big and ponderous to be labeled and SUV.
