Borrego Springs is a desert area east of San Diego and north of El Centro CA. It is known for beautiful wildflowers starting in February when the seasonal rains have been good. The last three years the winter rains have been good. The trip I made for these photos was in January and a bit too early for the flower display. But the large metal statues in and around Borrego are there year around and are worth the trip.

Surrounding the town of Borrego Springs is the largest California State Park called The Anza Borrego State Park. On this visit we stayed at the Casa Del Zorro Inn. The Inn at one time was owned by the Copley family that also owned the San Diego Union Newspaper. It received a drastic remodel in 2013 and is now a very nice place to stay while in the area. I have also The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and gold course a number of times. It is one one of the nicest RV Parks I have ever stayed in.

About six weeks later we went back to Borrego when things had greened up a bit and we expected some good looking clouds. We got the clouds and also a little rain.

I have been to Borrego Springs many times and recommend it as a destination for photography or video other than between May 15 – Oct 15. I would also like to comment that the more I use the Nikon Z8 the better I like it. The results speak for themselves in this blog post. And for that matter the iPhone 15 pro max takes excellent photos and video also. I find the two of those cameras together makes a powerful duo.
